Freedom

Welcome to the first post of my new blog!

In year 1857, Sepoy Mutiny known famously as first war of independence occurred. Sepoy's of the East India company started a rebellion against British. A revolution, a fight for freedom.

India's freedom fight started long before 1857, continued for 200 years and on August 15, 1947 under the leadership of a great man known as Mahatma Gandhi, India attained it's long dream of freedom and was declared a Independent Nation.

We are so indebted to all the freedom fighters, whose sacrificial acts freed us from the rule of a foreign nation.

Independence day every year has become a holiday, a celebration. But are we really free? can we say we have freedom?

I am talking from the perspective of every human being, I am talking about freedom from intruders from outside and inside of us.

If we are not free, then who is a free man? How can we know him? reach him?

Well, Even in midst of thousand people you cannot help but notice a free man. You will be attracted to him, the way he talks, walks, his words, even his eyes tell you that he is something more than mundane.

Some clues can be as follows

He lives his highest potential,
He is always himself,
He is not bound to self interest,
He responds but never reacts,
He is always striving,
Even in the middle of a crisis, you can sense a deep joy in him.

My next series of posts will be on freedom and how to be really a free man.

Why freedom? you may ask me

I say,

Free, we were born
Free, we shall live
And as free men we shall die.
For freedom is...
Our right, our duty and our destiny!

The following video shows the last few minutes of the life of Sir William Wallace, the main leader during the war of Scottish independence. His character was beautifully portrayed in the movie Brave heart . Listen to his final word, it makes you realize how legendary a warrior's life fighting for freedom is!

Thank you!
